Husband Wakes To Find Man Choking His Wife

According to authorities, a homeowner in a gated community was awakened by noises and, to his horror, found an intruder choking his wife. The homeowner quickly ran for his gun and returned to discover two additional intruders. The men, at least one of them armed with a gun, held the homeowner's wife hostage and demanded cash and jewelry. Fearing his wife would be killed, the homeowner opened fire and at least one of the intruders shot back. The suspects fled. Two were sought by police; one died in the backyard. NRA Member Confronts Jail Escapee

Panicked residents reported a man running through their yards as police chased a county jail escapee through several neighborhoods in Manteca, CA. That is, until the suspect jumped a fence and entered the yard of a citizen armed with more than a telephone. The citizen - NRA member Richard Soares - heard his dog barking and retrieved a firearm to investigate. He encountered the suspect, who claimed to be jumping fences for a school project. 79-Year-Old Accosted At Gunpoint

Amor Kerboua thought it was a joke, but the man who accosted the 79-year-old in his car and demanded money was dead serious. Police say the robber pointed a gun at Kerboua, who still thought the robbery was a prank and brushed the gun aside. When the robber trained his pistol back on Kerboua's face, however, the realtiy of the situation was apparent. Kerboua handed his assailant more than two hundred dollars, but that didn't satisfy him. He pointed the gun at Kerbou's stomach and said, "I'm going to shoot you, [expletive]." But it was the robber himself who was about to get shot. Kerboua, who has a concealed handgun permit, drew a .38 Smith & Wesson from his front pocket and shot his assailant, who fell but kept his gun raised, forcing Kerboua to shoot him twice more. Two Armed Youths Deman Money

According to police, a teenage asked a 16-year-old acquaintance if he could stay the night, claiming he was experiencing problems at home. The acquaintance agreed, presumably under the impression the teen was a friend, but this was no friendly visit. Once invited inside by the 16-year-old and his mother, the teen left the front door unlocked. During the night, two youths used the unlocked door to rush inside with a shotgun and pistol.While they demanded money, the mother snuck into a back bedroom to phone police and a neighbor for help. The neighbor, armed with a firearm, showed up first and held the would-be robbers at gunpoint until the police arrived. Three Men Raid Home, Shots Fired

Three armed men allegedly barged through the unlocked front door of a home occupied by five men and one woman, most of them students. Police say the residents fled in multiple directions as the suspects raided the home. One of the victims grabbed a semi-automatic AK-47 and hid in a closet. He heard two shots fired somewhere in the home and the next thing he knew one of the intruders was trying to force his way into the closet with a handgun. The victim fired three rounds, killing the gunman. "He did everything possible to avoid a physical confrontation. The last thing he wanted to do was kill somebody," said Orlando Deputy Sherrif Carlos Padilla, who didn't know why the house was targeted. 17 Year Old Assualt Victim Saved by Church Pastor

A pastor and a 17-year-old boy were guarding their church's fireworks stand late at night when a group of suspicious juveniles approached. According to police, the suspects tried to enter the stand and concocted a phony story when confronted. They returned thirty minutes later. This time, two or three suspects attempted to distract the pastor while the others went around and again tried to sneak inside the stand. "When the 17-year-old confronted them, they began assaulting him," sais Muskogee, OK. Dept. Police Chief Johnny Teehee. "The boy was screaming for help..." The pastor answered his cries, shooting one of the assailants, who will be arrested after his release from the hospital. Four other juveniles were also arrested. Burglars Looking For Drugs Find Armed Homeowner Instead

Police say two or three men who broke into a home looking for drugs messed up big time. "The victims had never seen them before. They probably picked the wrong house," explained Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Charles Jurcak. "The suspects entered the location, confronted the husband and demanded to know where the pot was." When the couple said they didn't know anything about marijuana, the frustrated intruders began to beat them. While they focused on the husband, the wife went to the bedroom to retrieve a firearm. On her way back, she was confronted in the hallway by one of the intruders and shot him several times. The suspects fled, but the injured intruder was found lying nearby and arrested. Teen Burglars Held At Gunpoint

According to police, a 36-year-old man awoke to popping noises resounding from the back of his residence. He took a .40-caliber handgun from his room and walked down the hallway to investigate. Detecting movement from the rear bathroom, the man opened the door and found a 16-year-old climbing through the window and another standing outside; both boys wore cotton gloves. Man Defends Boat After Being Stabbed

An elderly man discovered an intruder less than one-third his age burglarizing his boat. Police say the young criminal sprang at the man, stabbing him in the chest. Despite his injuries, the victim retrieved a shotgun and fired upon his assailant, causing him to flee. The victim was expected to recover from his injuries. Ex-Boyfriend Stalks Woman

Upon having her ex-boyfriend charged with domestic violence and stalking, a woman began carrying a firearm for protection. According to police, her next encounter with the violent ex-boyfriend occurred at a store, where the man "threatened great bodily harm." The woman reported the threats to police, and they follower her home to be sure the man wasn't there. Officers searched insude the home and found nothing suspicious - but they didn't check under the porch. When police left, the ex-boyfriend burst from under the home. The woman shot at him, but she missed and fled inside. Minutes later, the ex-boyfriend broke down the back door and rushed at the woman, who shot her assailant twice.
